Process
Here is a step by step breakdown of how we create a Living Legacy family film.
- 1Consult and Collect: we get to know the basics about you and the subject of your film. Then we collect photos and videos you have, and have them professionally scanned and digitized. Your family collections are treated with extreme care and returned promptly.
- 2The Interview: we sit with the subject and record an interview on camera. It’s a relaxed and gentle process that allows the subject to lead the conversation, and say what they want to say. Our interviewer will prompt and help explore the conversation, but mostly we just listen and let them tell their story.
- 3The Edit: Our professional editors get to work crafting your film. We combine interview footage, family photos and videos, music and graphics to create a cinematic documentary representation of your loved ones life. And we consult with you along the way to make sure we get the story just right.
- 4The Premiere: when the film is finished, we deliver digital copies to you with archive and sharing instructions so your film can be safely stored and shared by everyone.
We also offer “Premiere Event” services. Invite the whole family at a spectacular Premiere event we organize and cater to make your locked one feel like a star, and watch their story projects on big screen. Ask for details.

About
Living Legacy films is based in Chilliwack British Columbia, 1 hour east of Vancouver. It’s owners Alexandrea Bjola-Desilets and Justin Booth are broadcast and film professionals who have been producing films and commercials for 20 years. After discovering some old family film footage at Alex’s grandmothers’ home, the idea was formed to video record her speaking about the stories the old films helped her remember. What resulted was an amazing account of a life well lived, and the first Living Legacy film.
Now, Living Legacy helps bring to life the stories of other families most cherished members. It’s an honour we approach with respect and care to make sure their story is told the right way.
